ADMINISTRATIVE SYSTEM
Zambia is a unitary, republican state. It has a political system with an Executive President, a
Vice President and a mono camera parliamentary structure.
The country is divided into nine (9) provinces. It has three (3) cities, five (5) towns and a total
of fifty three (53) districts. Lusaka is the Capital City.
Zambia is a member of the:
- Common Market for Eastern and Southern African States (COMESA).
- Lome Convention of the ACP and the EU
- International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank)
- International Monetary Fund (IMF)
- Southern African Development Community (SADC)
- African Development Bank (ADB), and
- General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
She is also a prominent member of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), the non Allied
Movement (NAM), the Commonwealth and of the United Nations Organisation (UNO) and its
specialised agencies.
