Police pursue Dan Pule
POLICE in Lusaka have launched a special investigation on Dunamis Church pastor Dan Pule to establish his involvement in the transaction of the alleged ‘fake gold’, a police source has revealed to the Post Newspaper.

The source said Pule who had initially claimed to have been swindled out of about K288 million was instead being probed after police realised that he had not given an accurate statement in his complaint.

“The story is so complicated, it’s not…. you see the information that Pule gave in his statement was not accurate, the man was hiding some facts, so we have called him for questioning in the meantime those suspects have been released,” the officer said an officer close to the investigations.

The officer further disclosed that Pule had been pleading with the accused to withhold their statements from police so that the case can be withdrawn.

“We have information that he has been secretly going to the same people he accused asking them to withdraw their statements, he wants to have the case withdrawn, but police are pursuing the matter with interest,” said the officer.

Asked if it was true that Pule paid US $62, 000 in purchasing the ‘fake gold’, the source said, “So far it seems Pule was not honest on that too because in the first place, investigations are pointing that he did not pay that amount all by himself, it seems he is deeply involved in stone dealing than earlier perceived.”

When contacted for a comment, police spokesperson Bonnie Kapeso said investigations in the matter were still going on and Pule was among the people who had been called for questioning.

“We have questioned many people in the course of our investigation, not Pule alone, so our findings are still that the information we were given at first was different from what we have established as police and that the accused have been released,” said Kapeso.

Last week one of the accused gold dealers in the case David Mwambazi disclosed that Pule assisted them bring the gold in to the country from Chirundu border.
