Zesco urged to improve 28.07.10

By TEDDY KUYELA

THE Zesco board has called on its management to improve the operations of the company to attract customer confidence.

Zesco board chairperson Kwalela Namaswala said the Zesco management should continue putting in place measures to help improve service delivery.

He said this in Lusaka on Monday during the handover ceremony of 100 vehicles procured by the institution at a cost of US$5.6 million.

He said Zesco must improve its services to meet rising customer demand.

Mr Namaswala said enhancing service delivery will help to encourage electricity consumers to pay their bills on time.

He said electricity consumers have been complaining of poor services they are receiving from Zesco and that there is urgent need for the power company to address problems such as the load shedding being experienced in some parts of the country.

Mr Namaswala commended the Zesco board for approving the purchase of 100 vehicles for the institution.

He said lack of transport had in the past hampered the provision of quality service to consumers.

And National Energy Sector and Allied Workers Union president Robison Nyirenda commended the Zesco board and management for procuring utility vehicles, which he said would enhance the operations of the company.
