No renewal period extension RTSA 18.01.10

By TEDDY KUYELA
THE Road Traffic and Safety Agency (RTSA) says it will not extend the period for the renewal of the road tax licences.

RTSA principal publicity officer Mercy Mwila said the agency will today start impounding vehicles that have no road tax licences to ensure safety of other motorists.

Ms Mwila said this in an interview in Lusaka yesterday.

She said owners of vehicles impounded after the grace period will be liable to pay K270,000.

“The agency has not extended the grace period it gave to motorists. But motor vehicle owners can still continue paying for road tax licence so that their vehicles are not impounded,” she said.

Ms Mwila has advised motorists to ensure that they operate within the confines of road traffic regulations.

She said the move will help to reduce the number of road accidents.
