Squad resumes Congo clash preps
SOUTH Africa-based teenage striker Clifford Mulenga was last night expected to join the senior Zambia national football team which regrouped at Power Dynamos’ camp-house in Kitwe.

Mulenga, an under-20 international who is at the Pretoria based Tucks Academy in South Africa, would be the only foreign based player in the team that this Saturday plays Botswana in an away international friendly.

Team manager Solly Pandor said Mulenga was being expected at Ndola International airport yesterday and should today train with the team which arrived in Kitwe in the evening.

With Technical Director Kalusha Bwalya expected to join the team later, ZANACO assistant coach Wedson Nyirenda who has been drafted onto the technical bench, would in the meantime drill the team.

Nyirenda has been included on the Chipolopolo technical bench as a stand-in for Ben Bamfuchile who is attending a UEFA coaching course in Holland.

Pandor said the team which last week camped in Lusaka would be in Kitwe until further instructions are given by FAZ on the team’s departure.

“For now we shall be in Kitwe until the FAZ tells us when to leave for Lusaka. But for now, we shall train in these two days and see what happens,” he said.

Pandor also said Zesco Utd left-back Joseph Musonda, who has just flanked trials at South African Castle Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs, was expected to join the team.

The list of players who are in camp or are being awaited includes goalkeepers Kakonje Kalililo and his Power Dynamos team mate Kennedy Kalale and Kennedy Mweene from Kitwe United.

Green Buffaloes defensive stalwart and team captain Misheck Lungu leads the defence department which includes Power’s Billy Mwanza and Francis Kasonde, Zesco Utd’s Clive Hachilensa, Perthias Malekano from Division One South Lusaka Celtics and new call-up Terence Mpundu of Kitwe.

Seasoned Numba Mumamba from Zanaco, Kitwe Utd’s Joseph Sitali, Donwell Yobe from Lusaka Dynamos, Buffaloes’ Felix Katongo and Afrisports’ Rainford Kalaba are the midfieders.

Strikers include David Mwape from Chambishi Blackburn, Ben Mwanza from Afrisports and Nicholas Zulu from Kabwe Warriors.
